Thanks for all the info on this. I was able to use the info here to cut some brackets today on the Water Jet. I have availability of one when I am at work.
I had time to make 3.
I have not installed them, but they fit and seems like it will work.

Number one.........I'm envious of having a Waterjet at your disposal...........the parts look great..........my brother just had his leather riding suspenders waterjetted with the name of his Army unit and one of his lost friends. What center to center hole distance did you end up using?

I happen to work for one of the largest(and Best) water jet manufacturers in the world. I was a field service tech, now I work from home, so I only play directly with them every few months.
I had to go in this last week and I was able to get a few minutes of machine time.
I went with 15mm. It seemed like a good compromise of the 2 that were posted.

Thanks, I was just wondering if there is much variation between bikes regarding the relationship between the centerline of the output shaft and the centerline of the mounting bolt for the crash bars. Where do we send our CAD dwgs for custom fabrication of parts............. :D ........ :lol: ............... :P

The town that I live in has several waterjets and I know all of them because I either installed them, moved them or trained them how to use them. I have thought about going back to one of them and asking if they would cut me out several of the brackets at a decent price and them offering them to members here. However I do not want to step on the toes of the man that put many hours and money into the CNC parts that he made.
If there was enough interest and it would not be seen as a bad thing to do, I could see about having 10-20 made. I am thinking I could have them cut out for less than $20 each.

FWIW last year I got a PM from Pepilepew (GWDocs Member who makes and sells these commercially) asking if I would send pictures of both the unit and the document that came with it. Evidently he has spent some time chasing down "counterfeit" units, but really I don't see how a shifter brace could be considered counterfeit unless it was represented as being HIS product. Otherwise it would just be "competing" product.

Last year I think they were only available thru Cyclemax, but last week somebody posted an e-bay link where the picture looked exactly like his, and seller was listed as Pepilepew. So evidently he has expanded his marketing.

There may be protections on his design, Copyright or maybe even Patent? Might be worth checking into before you proceed...

I in no way want to step on any toes, hurt any feelings or try to sell a competing product. If I were to do anything, it would be simply to sell the bracket I have pictured only. Anyone that bought it would be required to get their own shift extension from E-Bay or where ever and go from there. My thinking is that there are those among us that have a hard time spending $125 and would rather spend $10-20 and make it our-self. I would only be helping by allowing it to be made by someone with nothing more than a drill and hack-saw.

I've just spent the past several hours going over all the shifter support post "Re: GL1500 shift shaft stabilizer mod. No drilling." from way back in 2013...............that post has been going on for a long time thru the development of the current CNC pivot support from member peppi-le-pew...........very interesting following the progression of posts. After reading all the posts I felt that I needed to pass on the link information below to anyone following this post who don't have the desire nor the tools to fabricate a support for themselves. I personally have welders, plasma torch, gas torch, drill presses, small metal lathe, grinders, and tools that I probably don't even know I have...........so for me, it was a neat project to make my own support using the ideas that I found in this forum. My brother is a machinist and my nephew is a machinist who runs CNC equipment, so I have a feel for what can be done on CNC equipment. If you're not mechanically inclined, then you definitely need to get one of peppi-le-pew's shifter pivots, like I mentioned initially, it is a piece of CNC art and will solve all of your shaft support issues with your 1500. I'm not claiming life time performance for my homemade device...........not sure how good the A&W root beer can shim will fare under repetitive use.......I suspect replacement sometime in the future. I also wanted to pay homage to Cliff for all his hard work for the benefit of the members of this forum.
