Post by hummbird » Thu Nov 01, 2018 5:33 pm

I am going to put new timing belts on my 1100a wing soon and im reading as much as i can, my question is, can you guys that know please tell me the best belts to buy because i only want to do this once as my health is not very good. i have been looking at barracuda belts on Saber cycle, but have read here not to buy them, and have been told to buy gates, I have had this bike for a few years and have no idea when it ever had new belts put on it. im thinking of ordering new tensioners and springs to install at the same time is that a good idea being i have no ides when they were replaced. thank you all for the great help, you help me every time i ask a dumb question. :|

I get gates belts from the local auto store.Replace the belt tensioner only if the bearings are bad it the roller surface is damaged. The springs (to me) are redundant..They serve no purpose after the bolts have been tightened.I just don't trust them to set the proper preload.

Gates makes excellent belts, they are so good in fact that Honda uses them as Original Equipment! Your auto parts store can get you the Gates belts, the NAPA branded belts are also Gates, they will run you about $40 each from the auto parts stores. If you don't mind ordering them on-line, Amazon.com sells them for about half the price.
