Thinking of trying this for voltmeter mount...Thoughts

Post by bigsteveswing » Fri Nov 02, 2018 10:40 am

Recently purchased this voltmeter
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010H ... UTF8&psc=1

While doing some other tinkering on the bike I came across the plug that covers the hole where foot warmer controls would be on an "SE". Wondering if this meter would fit in that hole with some minor modifications or is it not workable?

I did the same thing with the same meter. Looks cool too.

Looks a lot like the one I used. I bought three different kinds and only one was accurate compared to my digital voltage meter.
My bike is an SE so I mounted it on the right side pocket cover.

The problem with a digital read out is when the sun hits it, which is most of the time, you can't see it.

I put a battery charger socket there, also used it to plug in satnav.

There are a few times the sun is on it, but most of the time it is readable.

I got a similar meter, but this one has an analog portion along with the digital. I haven't had opportunity to see it in the sun yet.

This is a panel that's ideal to mount two 2" gauges for voltmeter, or coolant temp, or oil pressure, or ambient temp etc.

There should be a limited number of them available by Xmas. Just a thought, , , , ,:)

I saw that double-unit too, but the manufacturer seemed to be long gone....

Yep, they're not being manufactured anymore.

I've contacted the original Mfg about getting the molds for this panel. He told me that he got rid of the molds in a "horse-trade" as payment for "services rendered" a few years back, , THEN, , the guy who got the molds got rid of them to a "trucker passing through". They are gone.

The GOOD NEWS, , , , I'm in the process of bringing this panel back and having new molds made. Its NOT CHEAP, and I don't plan on making much (if anything), but with the smallish number of 1500's still on the road, I'm hoping to reach as many riders as possible. The first small batch should be here by Xmas time (I'm hoping) so everyone wanting one can give themselves a "gift".
