Gosh, Rockdog, I'm not familiar with the earlier year Wings control setup, but on my 2012 with the controls just in front of the left knee, I just have to press and hold the "Audio" button for several seconds and it goes off. To turn it back on, a quick punch of the same button does the trick and can switch between speakers and headset. Does your 2002 have an "Audio" button on the tank area just below the ignition key?

This is also the method for 2006 to 2010 and I think also for 2001 to 2005
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey
