Exhaust tips

Post by 89 1500 » Sat Nov 10, 2018 10:19 pm

One of my riding bud's decided to give up 2 wheel life so he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Bring my 89 up to the shop and straight up trade for his 93. So I headed up this morning before it ended up sold and I was stuck with my 89 rat. I had a number of parts I wanted from my 89 so I swapped parts for a few hours. His boss did all of the document transfers for me which took up an hour and a half of prime parts swapping time an I ended up having to leave my factory turn downs on my 89 was racing weather conditions and darkness being an hour and a half away from home. I did an exhaust mod some years back and remounted the turndowns at a 45 degree angle and wanted to transfer them to my 93. The new bike has those gaudy triple turn down tips that look like a garden rake sticking out of the back. I can't stand the look.... from the side they look bent up and from the back...…..ya rake. Anyway anyone know where I can get just the turn downs? Prefer factory to get the perfect length but anything will be better than those garden rakes dangling off of the back.

Try ebay. Search for 'GL1500 chrome exhaust'. There are several sets of extensions there but, give no measurements.

Thanks, eBay's usually my first stop. A lot of complete exhaust or replacement mufflers. If I'm going to replace mufflers I'll use torque master and most likely install the x pipe too. I've gotta get these garden rakes pulled off today and see what's left to work with. I might get lucky at the parts store or muffler shop.

You should have the stock tips under the rakes. They have a hole in the bottom of them for the stock exhaust to exit.
