I use only Honda oil filters. There are some others that will fit, but the Honda ones are of universally high quality.

How surprising that your Honda shop doesn't stock them, being that they are used on almost every Honda motorcycle?

Another Purolator fan here. But not their standard filter, only the Pure One filter, part # PL14612 or # PL14610. The PL14610 is 1" longer than the PL14612, and thus has more media surface area for filtering, and should easily fit in the space allotted, as it does on my 1500.
I have also used the Mobil1 #M1-110, and Bosch # 3323.
All of these filters are highly rated by those crazy enough to disassemble filters and analyze their composition and containers. Using one of these does make a difference. The differences in manufacturing quality can be amazing.

The above list is not quite complete..............forgot one of the best filters of all...........MAHLE Original OC 575 Oil Filter(GL1500) for $12, available thru Amazon. I've been using Mahle filters in my autos for quite some time. They're German, I believe, and are OEM for BMW, VW, Audi and other European cars. Very well made.........check out their website. Definitely stay away from Fram.

Nothing wrong with that choice. Another filter of choice would be anything made by Hastings, which probably includes half of the filters on the lists.
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey
