What are that gauges for?

Post by PiotrGL1500 » Tue Dec 04, 2018 12:33 pm

I just strip all fairings from my Baby and have bunch of wiring loom and "gizmos". Building naked bike must get rid of all unnecessay stuff, but how to guess which ones?? On the beginning Id like to ask if someone can explain me on below pics what are that sensors/gauges for?
Also on the before last pic there is a tube that was not connected .....have no idea if that should stay unplugged or what.

This pipe must go somewhere or to be closed, but have no idea.

Air temp sensor
Headset jack (5 wire round plug).
Do not plug the pipe. Its the carb vent.If anything, extend it a couple of feet or attach a fuel filter to it to keep moisture from condensing in it.
Unknown to me on the last 2 pix

The one with the green thing on it..Is that a H3 lamp?
Maybe used in the lower lights?

The green thing on 3rd pic is connected to the air intake carb and two wires. Such two identical are on right side.
Air temp sensor must stay ...I guess..

What are the colors of the wires in the 3rd picture?
It should be either the AICV or Shot Air selenoid valve.
There are some design differences especially before 1993. So, be careful and use the service manual and circuit diagrams when modifying the bike.

And I think the part in the last picture is the shot air valve unit if it is connected to a selenoid like in the 3rd picture.

My best guess is that must be evap gauge because looks like I have californian version. So now the question is how to remove all that stuff safely?? I must definitely get rid of all that californian stuff but have no idea where to start so maybe someone done that before so will not have to go thru it by my own. Will do it anyway but will take more time and normal **** ups.

I do not know if it will help but perhaps looking at a Valkyrie service manual and some of the information about removal of emissions controls (de-smog). The intakes are completely different but it may give you some ideas.

Movie is perfect, apart from quality, but gives idea only about what is there. Now I will try to remove all of that systems to get naked bike without endless tubes.
