Windjammer bracket Modification

Post by bohdan » Thu Dec 27, 2018 9:45 am

Greetings Group,

I have a GL1000 bracket. However, the crash bars (Hondaline) are impacting the placement. I think I can grind off about an inch off of the bottom of the bracket to make it fit. Has anyubody else done this before? Cheers

If all the parts are the correct ones for your bike, there should be no clearance issues if installed properly.

But that being said, with no pictures, it's really impossible to give an educated answer.

Here are some pix. You will notice the vetter bracket with the hose clamp temporarily in its final position. Next pix is the Hondaline crashbar pivoted over the bracket. About an inch overlap. No room on crash bar for adjustment. I probably will ha e to trim a bit off the bottom.

My impression, based on your pics, is that your proposed solution seems reasonable, as long as you don't compromise the lower welds. I would suggest trying to double-up on the upper hose clamps on the effected bracket tabs.

Or find different safety bars.
