Electrical Connection company - genuine company or not ? did not receive heated grips

Post by IndianRider » Wed May 29, 2019 7:56 pm

Hello members,

I ordered heated grips for my GL1800 back in Dec 07, 2018 ( Invoice EC-7767) and never received the grips. I did contact Electrical Connection 2 times since then and I got a reply once that they were updating the design of the grips but needed more time. However, I have not received a reply from my Feb 2019 email and I just sent them another email today. I completely forgot about this order as Ive been riding my 1200RT this past winter.

Does anyone know if it is a genuine operation or not ? Does anyone here know the owner personally? They might have overlooked my order but not replying to my emails was suspicious. The first reply was from a person named Lewis Preston.

Mr Preston, if you are a member, here please check my invoice # EC 7767 from Dec 07, 2018)

I would be happy with just getting the grips and if not just a simple refund. I don't intend to harm the company of the online forums at all.

Thanks

IndianRider

Lewis Preston is a very honorable person, and if you will take time to telephone him, he will fix the problem.

I sent him a messge on FB, he will be here soon.

Indianrider

I dropped the ball on this. Right before you ordered, we discovered a way to control heated grips using pulse width modulation Ina new, super compact form. We developed a new controller for our led driving lights that gives you 100% control in a package smaller than a 1" cube that's ip67 rated. We intended to change our heated grip kit to this controller after I did a bunch of bench testing. And it got pushed to the side.

I'm leaving for Americade on Sunday. I'll be back 8 days after. While I'm gone, I'll speak with Phil to make sure we have the right heaters and I'll get this corrected when I return.

I'm sorry we failed you.

Lewis

I completely forgot about this myself. I did email or message Lewis couple weeks ago and didn’t get a response.

I’ll have to call them during their business hours to get this settled.

Thanks for the reminder.

I'm glad to have stumbled into this thread. I WILL NOT be buying from this company. Too much competition out in the market to have to put up with such lousy customer support.

Well if you, mr Bluethunder, think that is reason enough from one in the multitude they do excellent customer service then you do what you think you must do. Apparently you don't know what he has developed to make and is continuing to make, ECC has been around coming up with innovative items for our wings for years. Lewis is an upstanding guy is not sending out something because he won't send something with a problem and is working through it. Yes something must be holding him up from completing the fix that has kept him from getting back to IndianRider. He is out on the road many times at rallies for multiple days himself, as he said he would be. It takes multiple days of prep and driving/riding to and from rallies besides the talking to the 'want to know more people that don't know how to figure out this and that' (and they many times don't have a lick of sense either).
He said he needs to do a bunch of testing and that he probably is doing along with the rest of the things he has in the fire and life with his family. But you go ahead and throw jab punches at something you know nothing about and are not apart of.

They do make some good products. I had an issue about six years ago with a product that was of unknown age. Took about a week to hear back from them but once I did, they were extremely helpful.

But...….As far as I know WingAdmin is still waiting for the LED headlight kit he was promised last year to support his monthly contest.

I just called the 865 phone number and spoke to a tech who mentioned that they have all the parts for the newer grips and they are waiting for Lewis to finalize instructions before sending them out. I did mention that I ordered the grips in Dec 2018 so the said they will have lewis got back to me..

It might sound ridiculous waiting 6 months for heated grips, but since its the summer, I'm willing to give them more time only based on their reputation from some of the members here. As I mentioned previously, I did not know anything about this company and did not intend to harm their reputation at all.

In this age we expect things we order to arrive within a few days. In situations like this, it would have been nice if a company gave the buyer a heads up that certain product my take weeks or months to be fulfilled and it should be clearly mentioned on the website and checkout page to prevent all this uncertainty or maybe I missed something during the ordering process.

Cheers

I have a bunch of their stuff, and I like it all.

High and low beam headlights I think I got from them directly, and the 12V power receptacle in the trunk I think I got from WingStuff.com or CycleMax.com.
