Blowing white smoke

Post by Mgostovich » Sun Jun 02, 2019 12:40 pm

Ok so I blew a head gasket and had white smoke coming from the right side. I bought the kit and replaced the head gaskets but now I have it smoking from both sides.
Is there an early snide and outside on these gaskets and if so would that be causing this?

If you install them wrong, oil will spill out. Did you use OEM gasket, and did you check for orbing?

Cylinder head, and engineblock kan get slightly uneven. You check it with a straigt egde and (that tool you use to ajust valveclearance and sparkplug gap).

Are you sure, that the white smoke i caused by coolant, and not just condensed water in the exhaust?

I ran it for a bit and it continues to smoke. Also is worse when I rev it up. Could I have gotten a bad gasket set maybe?

18 months ago I put in a Athena headgasket, it didn´t line up properly, I just changede it to a OEM gasket. This time I resurfaced heads and the block, just in case.

Both gaskets would have to be bad, for the motorcycle to "drink" the coolant on both sides. the safest way to diagnose a breach between coolingsystem and the cylinder is a CO2 leaktest.
Here in Denmark, most mekaniks have the needed tools for this

I'll bet there's still coolant in the exhaust, Drive it around a while and see if maybe the smoke (steam, whatever) goes away....
