how to remove alte :mrgreen: nator pulley on my 1995 ok. it feels like somethings going to brake any lnput would be would be much appreciated.

The OEM alternator drive is held onto the rotor shaft by a standard RH thread nut. Remove nut and drive should pop off splined rotor shaft.

If you have access to an impact wrench, that should break it loose easily.

IF you have any worries about breaking something, take it to an alternator shop. They'll probably pop it off for almost nothing for you, and they won't break it.

Hoping there is someone in here with an answer for me. My alt packed it in on my 88 gl1500 a few weeks ago. It was the 707. Ordered a aftermarket new one on Amazon. Got it on Sunday and put it in bike. I had to get 2 new bolts because of the difference in hole size and changed the power bolt hook up to the one on my old alt since the new one is so large it doesn't fit in around corner. My question is how do I keep the o ring in place while installing because I am going to have to remove Alt again since I noticed oil leak. So obviously the o ring didn't stay put. Ant advise is good.

While I just installed an aftermarket 90 amp from Amazon I noticed while tightening the bolts that it was starting to pinch the O-ring so i backed off on the bolt. I then repositioned the 0-ring so it wasn't pinching and then watched it closely as I tightened the alternator. The bad thing is you can't see the right side of the alternator to ensure it's not pinching on that side. After I finished I did see some oil on the ground so I cleaned up any oil on the frame and around the alternator and took it for a short ride to see if there was a leak and there wasn't. Getting that thing in and out is a nightmare and after trying for a long time to get it back in I noticed that immediately behind the alternator there is a rubber hose and a part of the frame that pretty much blocks an easy install of the alternator.
