GL1500 (1993) FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT

Post by CRAFFS » Fri Jul 05, 2019 10:57 am

Good afternoon from Cape Town,
I had very helpful responses from members regarding starting issues of my GL1500. In short, my bike has been hibernating for 2 years and I found the culprit to be the fuel pump that "died".
I will appreciate recommendations regarding suitable aftermarket fuel pumps. Thank you!

Thank you so much! Highly appreciated!

I also downloaded the link you added (for later/alternative) pumps. Just hope I can find the same/suitable pumps down here in South Africa, if not, I will import from "somewhere".

Again, thank you!

Kind regards, Johann

A decent after-market replacement for the fuel pump is the NAPA/Carter P72190 with a FS0009 strainer, and 12 inches of Gates R7093 fuel line. An in-line brass elbow is sometimes used to prevent the fuel line from getting a "kink" that will prevent fuel flow and burn out the pump. These parts are often found at Amazon, Rock Auto, or eBay.
