Fork oil quantity..amI crazy?

Post by JohnUSA » Fri Aug 09, 2019 4:43 pm

I "scavenged" a measuring cup from the cabinet.

I measured and poured 6oz of oil. Cycled the tube up and down a few times.

I measured and poured another 6oz of oil. Cycled the tube up and down a few times.

I have a dipstick for 7.6".

The oil level is 10.6 down the tube.

I look at the side of BelRay oil bottle, and it shows only 8 oz poured out.

:o :o :o :o

When using a dipstick the 7.6" level is with the fork fully collapsed and springs out. Are you doing it that method?

Ok, I'm partly crazy...too much Red Bull...

I was looking at the guide on the side of the bottle, and was reading it as a quart bottle, not a liter bottle. So, I actually started with 1000 ml, and have 700ml remaining. I did pour twelve oz via the measuring cup. A conversion chart would indicate I only put 10oz in.

Fork is collapsed, no springs.
