Position Light as headlights?

Post by Wing--Man » Fri Aug 09, 2019 6:14 pm

Position light stock bulb is 34906-MN8-911 and is a dual element with a flat blade.

Has anyone used the POSITION LIGHTS on the late model GL1500 as headlights?

I have seen these used as DRL but curious is the light throw is efficient as a head light.

The stock position light is a dim little 5 watt light bulb so they don't throw much light. But Cyclemax sells some 50 watt LED plug-in replacements, I bet those throw out some good light!

I wouldn't expect them to throw focused light like the headlights though...

My thought on this.

Use the Positions as DRL and sort of headlights that is refocused with internal flat mirrors. In essence, I will be working like a dentist.
Then wire some 12 ga primary up front to power some 110/140 watt bulbs as High and Ultra-High high beams.
Or double up high lumen Leds.

WHY?
UFOs are coming and making them as landing marker lights. I think they could light up the moons dark-side.. if I found the right hill angle.
Then there is that possibility they will work like Lasers and cut through the fog.

I have been up for 40 hours, I feel like and thinking like I had a few.

I'm not sure that the lights would be "adjustable" enough to avoid being considered "out of adjustment" by your local LEO. The configuration of the mirror "backings" could throw the light focus in another direction, other than in front of you. Don't get me wrong, , its a fine idea if it helps visibility to the front, , but there could be a problem with them too, , ,

Let us know how it goes though, , might be a good trick/upgrade.

I have these on my 1500. They are bright, but compared to the headlights right next to them, they are definitely not headlight-bright. They are also not focused, they're more for just for appearance. I like them because the color matches the headlight color.
