Lightning crashes

A Kansas GL1200 owner left his bike out in a storm yesterday, and it was hit by lightning...

I hope he has insurance, which is doubtful for that type loss.

and, he sure is glad that he was not on the bike at the time.

We had a Lightning strike nearby us a few weeks back, it tripped some breakers, but no broken PCs or Printers. Other than every thing had to be turned off, and brought back up in chronological order to get the networks/PCs working again.

I have all of our critical stuff running off of APC brand UPS units.

Wow. Looks like the front wheel is the only thing he can part out from that.

About 25 years ago I remember all over the local news a rider on the Boulder Turnpike (US-36 between Denver and Boulder CO) was hit by lightning at highway speeds. Crashed into the center median concrete barrier. The strike blew a 1ft dia hole in the concrete pavement. They said the rider was dead before he hit the median barrier. No fire though. Tragic.
