Is there an agenda for the gathering?
Each day is segmented into two. Ride in the morning, lunch is at a great place, ride in the afternoon. Supper in the evening followed by drinks and lots of discussion. This a wonderful time to make new friends and greet ols ones.

Was there anything in particular you were intetested in?

The reason why I ask is that everyone, especially a first timer, has certain expectations. Last year, a couple expected the ride to be led by a "tour guide" who would stop at places every 20 minutes and explain the history and facts of each stop. I can tell you that the Gathering is not that kind of a ride. If you like to ride in beautiful settings and spend time with wonderful people, AND have fun doing it - then this Gathering is for you! The emphasis is on riding. BTW, suggestions are always welcome - please PM me directly.

Do you mean June 21st? July 21st isn't really "fast approaching" unless we're just on totally different time schedules.

Gonna look at it closer, but I'm pretty close as is. Great ride with lunch before returning is to West Jefferson, NC and a meal at Shatley Springs on Rt 16 north of 221north & Jefferson.

https://shatleysprings.com/

Rt 21 south from Wytheville to Independence, Rt 58 west to Mouth Of Wilson, Rt 16 south … picks up 221 near Jefferson. Or stay on Rt 21/221 south.

Just saying.

I rode up to Jefferson yesterday from Charlotte, and back, taking 421 up to the Blue Ridge Parkway then 88 over to Laurel springs and on to Jefferson. Beautiful area, rolling farm land. Ate lunch at New River State Park, and they have quite an extensive campground there, and lots of people kayaking and tubing on the river.

It might be a good idea for those who want to attend and are looking for a roomIe to post that info. I know that Corkster52 is looking for someone to share a room. There are probably others.

I am in the UK and find it hard to believe that you are going ahead with your gathering, especially under the Covid 19 threat? The US as a whole has had over 2.5 million people catch the virus with nearly 130,000 deaths, purely on those figures I would have thought you would cancel for this year. In Europe ALL the Treffens have been cancelled, as have all the other motorcycle shows/meets for this year, Motogp/WSB racing is just coming back with no crowds, the same as football. I hope you all take precautions, ie masks and social distancing, in spite of what your President tells you there is another spike coming, Covid is not finished with us yet. Stay safe people!

Hi all,

I've attended all of the Goldwing Doc rides and have really enjoyed both the rides and time with friends but, unfortunately, due to Covid 19 I won't be able to make it this year. Border is still closed and with the situation in the US I am not even sure we will be able to spend the winter in Arizona this year. Have a great ride all and we'll hopefully see you on the 5 th annual ride. Stay safe and keep the shiny side up.

Jim,
Sorry to hear you will not be at the 4th Gathering. We had a great time riding down from WV to Maggie Valley last year. We will keep you in mind if Brian finds another Waypoint G. Stay safe and healthy up north. Stories will be told for sure. There are some great roads in this area for the Gathering.
