slight vibration around 2400 rpm

Post by jfred2 » Thu Oct 31, 2019 9:45 pm

I am new to the Goldwing bike(actually a trike-Roadsmith). My 2017 has a slight vibration felt in the handlebars at about 2400 rpm. You can hear a noise along with the vibration and it sounds like a gear or trans noise. At idle there is a slight noise on the left side of the engine .(dealer told me it was nothing to worry about-bike is still in warranty). The alternator has a vibration also but it is slight but can be felt. I am a retired mechanic (heavy truck master tech) and may be looking for something that is not a problem as I am new to the Goldwing. I need some reassurance or advice so I don't worry about the vibration.
Thanks, Jackie

the valve train is chain driven, and it makes noise, a lot of noise and the tappets are solid, not hydraulic.

w/o my helmet, I can hear it, it is just the nature of the 1800.
with my helmet, it is gone.

Vibration? don't know that I paid much attention to it at a certain RPM.
My bike has the Traxxion suspension package and it rides harsh, a lot harsher than I like.
I wanted the feel of my '98SE which rode like a Cadillac, plush and comfy.

but, I wanted to be free of carbs and the problems with fuel jelling up over winter, or long periods of not riding it.... So, I went with fuel injection.... I don't regret it, but the noises are there, but not a problem as far as the engine going terminal on you.

my bike has 114,000 miles on it, and '02.... runs like a good Goldwing should.

What state do you live in ??? Wing owners will ride to my shop from all over the US to let me listen to noises. I'm in Zephyrhills, FL.

What tire are you using on the front ???
