Is a 1500 a waste spark ignition and does the coils have it own igniter built in.

I would think yes, as there are 3 coils.
Each has a lead to the right bank, and to the left bank spark plugs.

Yes on the wasted spark, but the igniters are not built in the coils, All three igniters are integrated into the ICU (Ignition Control unit), sometimes called ECU (Engine Control unit).
