Fabricated ignition switch grommet

Well, I just could NOT bring myself to pay $10+ for a stinking tiny piece of plastic! LOL, so I took some excess aluminum stock, cut it to size, and powder coated it. I made it bigger than the stock ring so it would cover some scratches from the previous owner’s keys. Thought about 3M double-sided tape but ended up using Velcro so it’s easily removable. I thought maybe the Velcro would make it stand off too far, but it actually lays pretty flat. I originally used a sliced small empty Teflon tape reel which actually is the perfect size aperture to fit over the ignition switch but I didn’t like the way it took paint so I decided to go with metal instead...

Looks nice. I'll have to fire up the lathe and do the same. Mine is a chrome one that is patched back together, scratched and falls off ocasionally. Only the key stops me from losing it sometimes. I like the velcro idea.
