Horror! @@ Poor Dixie :-(

Post by PedroTQ »

On the 15th of April I picked up a small roll of carpet to line my other sidecar with, I wedged it in the 88 chair next to Dixie, on the way home I turned right at a set of traffic lights, the carpet rolled over and bounced Dixie out of the sidecar, and stupid me didn't notice for a couple of hundred yards.

she had her pads torn up badly, straight to the vet hospital for her.

I felt terrible about what I did to her, :(

She is restrained in as per laws and she would probably leap out if she sees another dog or cat.

Her last bandage came off two days ago, she is tender on her feet but happy and gets around like nothing had happened.

Yesterday was the first time I rode my outfit since the mishap.

If she ever gets back in the chair I will have to be more mindful of what I put in there with her and keep a closer eye on her too.

Dixie got very spoilt during the recovery process and now needs to go on a diet :D

Happy and Safe Riding to Everyone, Peter.

Awww, poor Dixie! I'm sure she forgives you.

Many years ago I had my Greyhound Melly at Niagara Falls, and we walked around for hours there. She started limping and not wanting to walk anymore, so I stopped to see what was wrong. I don't know if the concrete on the sidewalks was more abrasive than she was used to, but her pads were all torn up and bleeding. I ended up carrying her (48 lbs of Greyhound) for a couple miles back to my truck. I felt so bad!! But pads heal pretty quickly.

I don't know whether to offer my sympathy or give you a virtual kick in the butt. Kick in the butt wins. Lol.

Yes!!! the "Kick in the Butt" is certainly the Go! The only sympathy required is for Dixie,

She is bounding along happily now, as soon as she can walk on bitumen and roughish surfaces I will see if she hops back into the chair.

All the Best to Everyone, Peter.

Sorry to hear that, for both of you. Did she fall out, or did she fall out and get dragged a bit?

We've had dogs jump out of the back of pickups before and thankfully be OK, but it was still concerning.
